I wanted to kick off the celebration of 20 years of autodealer with a thank you. There was about a 7 year gap where autodealer was constantly on pause, always something I meant to get back to, something that was important but never a priority. The pandemic had the silver lining of allowing me the time to restart in earnest. I was productive, but continually hit a wall of disinterest and, when I could get anyone to respond, general apathy. I generally felt like I, and a few close friends, were the only people who believed in the project.

And then Jason posted to a music group that I belonged to asking for submissions for a fundraising comp on his label, Somewherecold. I submitted a track, firmly believing that nothing would come of it, and I'd either keep pretending that I had a future in music or maybe I'd just find another outlet. Much to my surprise, he not only responded, but was enthusiastic about the autodealer project. I became part of the Somewherecold Records family, and Jason has quickly become one of my best friends.

So this track is kind of a thank you, specifically to Jason, but more generally to anyone who has listened these last 20 years. I figured that would be the most apt way to kick off the celebration of two decades of autodealer: with my sincerest thanks.
